Interview with Jarrod Morley

Senior Vice-President, Strategy and Head of Innovation

  1. THE INNOVATION FORUM WILL PRESENT ITS 9th EDITION IN MAY. WHAT SETS THIS EVENT APART IN CANADA AND INTERNATIONALLY?

Every 2 years, the Innovation Forum addresses critical innovation trends, highlights the strategies deployed around the world to bring them to market, and highlights the challenges and opportunities that innovators’ strategies offer for potential research and supply chain collaborations and partnerships to bring them to fruition.

  1. INNOVATION IS AT THE HEART OF THE AEROSPACE INDUSTRY. HOW WILL INNOVATION BE REFLECTED AT THE FORUM?

Innovation will be reflected in every aspect of the event. The program will feature inspiring presentations by renowned industry innovators paving the way for change in aerospace, technical roundtables and thought-leader workshops discussing the challenges and opportunities facing our global industry. International delegations from industry, government and financial sponsors will take part in a number of networking and B2B events designed to turn discussions into collaborative opportunities.

  1. AFTER THE UNITED STATES IN 2022, THE UNITED KINGDOM WILL BE THE COUNTRY OF HONOR IN 2024. CAN YOU TELL US A LITTLE ABOUT RU-CANADA BILATERAL RELATIONS?

The UK and Canada have a long-standing relationship. Both regions have large and robust aerospace industries. As this industry undergoes a major transition in technological innovation and the UK positions itself post-Brexit, now is the time to understand where research and business priorities lie, what strategies are being considered and what opportunities exist for collaboration. Our governments are negotiating a free trade agreement. The Forum will therefore provide a valuable opportunity for participants to learn more about the scope of the discussions surrounding this agreement, and how it will affect the aerospace industry.

  1. THE PROGRAM PROMISES TO BE VERY FULL. WHAT WILL BE THE MAIN THEMES COVERED?

There’s plenty to talk about as our industry undergoes a major transition to meet the sustainability targets set by ICAO for 2050. No region can achieve this alone, which is why the theme of the next edition will focus on collaboration and how the international community can work together to achieve these ambitious goals. The solutions envisaged include aircraft wing configuration, the maturity of different propulsion technologies, and lighter, more durable materials, to name but a few. The Forum will also track progress in the eVTOL segments, discuss the challenges of supersonic flight, and highlight emerging elements such as quantum computing and its contribution to the aerospace industry.
